Description
49L7X82 – 8" SoloX® L7X™ Competition Subwoofer (2Ω DVC, 400–800W RMS)
The KICKER SoloX L7X is the company's most advanced bass technology, engineered for extreme power handling, long excursion, and service-minded design. The 8-inch 49L7X82 delivers that SoloX performance in a dual 2Ω configuration, making it a flexible, compact choice for high-output daily builds and multi-sub systems where amplifier matching and space are both critical.
Overview
Compact 8" Output with Dual 2Ω Flexibility
The 49L7X82 uses the same SoloX® L7X™ 8" motor and suspension design as its 1Ω counterpart, but with a 2Ω dual voice coil layout to give you more wiring options when pairing with modern monoblock amplifiers and multi-driver systems. With 400–800 watts RMS recommended and a 30–100 Hz frequency range, it is tuned for real output in compact boxes.
The high-mass ferrite motor, 2.5" voice coil, and long-throw geometry work together to deliver significant displacement from a small driver, making the 49L7X82 a strong choice for stealth installs, small cargo areas, and multiple-sub arrays where big subs simply will not fit.
- High-mass ferrite motor tailored for 8" long-excursion performance.
- 30–100 Hz operating range in a properly designed vented enclosure.
- Dual 2Ω voice coils for increased wiring flexibility across different amplifier layouts.
Construction
SoloX Build Quality in an 8" Frame
Like the 1Ω version, the 49L7X82 is built around a robust motor and basket structure, a high-strength cone, and a long-throw surround. The design goal is the same as the larger SoloX models: maximize usable excursion and reliability, even when the driver is pushed close to its limits in a compact enclosure.
- Double-pressed cone construction for strength and consistency.
- UV-resistant surround engineered to support long excursion.
- Basket and motor system aligned for precision and durability.
What Sets SoloX® L7X™ 8" Apart
Key Design Highlights
Motor & Moving Assembly
2.5" Voice Coil & Long-Throw Architecture
The 49L7X82 shares the same moving assembly and motor geometry as the 1Ω model: a 2.5" (62.5 mm) diameter voice coil, 1-7/8" (48 mm) winding width, 5/16" (8 mm) top plate, and a one-way Xmax of 15/16" (24 mm). This combination allows the 8" driver to behave like a much larger sub when backed by the right enclosure and power.
- 2.5" (62.5 mm) diameter voice coil with extended winding.
- Top plate thickness of 5/16" (8 mm) for precise magnetic gap control.
- 15/16" (24 mm) one-way Xmax for high-displacement performance.
- Voiced for 30–100 Hz output in the recommended vented alignment.
Cooling & Reliability
Heat Management for Compact High-Power Systems
Despite its size, the 49L7X82 is expected to handle serious power. Its motor and basket are designed with airflow considerations that help transport heat away from the coil, supporting reliable operation within the 400–800 watt RMS window in real-world systems.
- High-mass motor to stabilize temperatures and performance.
- Airflow paths around the coil and motor for better cooling.
- Designed for sustained use at recommended power levels in tuned enclosures.
Wiring & Connectivity
2Ω Dual Voice Coils for Wiring Flexibility
The 49L7X82 uses a 2Ω dual voice coil (DVC) layout, giving you multiple impedance options when designing single- or multi-driver systems around today's high-power monoblock amplifiers. It is particularly well suited to multi-sub arrays where wiring flexibility is a must.
- 2Ω DVC configuration for a wide range of wiring schemes.
- Supports series and parallel wiring across one or more drivers.
- Optimized for 400–800 watts RMS in properly matched systems.
Installation Footprint
Compact Mounting for Creative Enclosures
With a mounting cutout of 7-5/16" (18.6 cm) and depth of 7-15/16" (20.1 cm), the 49L7X82 is sized for compact vented designs that still allow enough motor depth and travel for true SoloX performance, even in tight installations.
- Mounting cutout: 7-5/16" (18.6 cm).
- Mounting depth: 7-15/16" (20.1 cm).
- Ideal for compact vented enclosures where depth is available but frontal area is limited.
