Description
49L7X102 – 10" SoloX® L7X™ Ferrite Competition Subwoofer (2Ω DVC, 1000–2000W RMS)
The KICKER SoloX L7X is the company's most advanced bass platform, built for extreme power handling and fast, field-serviceable recones in serious SPL and demo vehicles. The 10-inch 49L7X102 offers this flagship L7X technology in a dual 2Ω configuration, giving system designers more flexibility when matching amplifiers and building compact, high-output enclosures.
Overview
High-Output 10" with Dual 2Ω Coils
The 49L7X102 uses the same SoloX® L7X™ motor design: a triple-stacked ferrite magnet wrapped around a hyper-extended pole piece. This layout creates a strong, linear magnetic field that keeps the 3-inch voice coil under control at long excursion, turning amplifier power into real low-frequency output.
With 1000–2000 watts RMS of recommended power and a 2Ω dual voice coil configuration, the 10" L7X102 opens up multiple wiring options for modern monoblock amplifiers and multi-sub systems, while still playing with authority in the 25–100 Hz range from a 2 ft³ vented enclosure.
- Triple-stacked ferrite magnet with 8-11/16" (22 cm) diameter and 406 oz (11.5 kg) total magnet weight.
- Hyper-extended pole piece to enhance linearity and thermal performance at high excursion.
- Engineered for extreme low-end output in small, high-power enclosures and multi-sub arrays.
Construction
Competition-Grade Materials & Geometry
The SoloX L7X 10" uses a cast-aluminum basket, double-pressed pulp cone, and a heavy-duty, UV-resistant Santoprene® surround. KICKER's square cone profile with ribbed corners increases effective cone area and helps manage cone-edge motion, turning excursion into SPL without sacrificing longevity.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for stiffness and strength in high-SPL use.
- Heavy-duty Santoprene® surround with square cone and ribbed corners.
- Cast-aluminum basket and custom rubber magnet boot for durability and protection.
What Makes SoloX® L7X™ Different
Key Design Highlights
Motor & Suspension
3" Voice Coil & Dual-Spider Suspension
The 49L7X102 uses a 3-inch (75 mm) voice coil with a 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width and a dual-spider suspension system. This design keeps the coil centered and stable across large excursions, while the cone and surround translate that stroke into real output.
- 3" (75 mm) voice coil with 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width.
- Dual-spider suspension for high-excursion control.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for stiffness and durability.
- Heavy-duty Santoprene® surround with square geometry and ribbed corners.
Cooling & Reliability
Forced-Air Cooling™ for Real-World Abuse
The SoloX L7X motor and basket structures are designed to promote airflow through and around the voice coil, helping to carry heat away from critical parts. This aids reliability and performance under repeated, high-power demo and SPL use.
- Motor and pole geometry optimized for airflow and heat reduction.
- Air paths through the motor structure to help cool critical components.
- Designed for extended high-power use in compact competition systems.
Wiring & Connectivity
2Ω Dual Voice Coils for System Flexibility
The 49L7X102 features a 2Ω dual voice coil (DVC) configuration, providing multiple wiring options for matching modern monoblock amplifiers and multi-sub arrays. The SoloX terminal system keeps large-gauge wiring organized in tight, complex enclosures.
- 2Ω DVC design for versatile wiring with a wide range of amplifiers.
- Single 8 AWG spring-loaded terminal for primary connection.
- Dual 8 AWG terminal block for fast series / parallel wiring layouts.
Field-Replaceable Recone
Built to Be Rebuilt, Fast
In serious SPL and demo systems, recones are expected. The SoloX L7X platform is designed so recones are quicker and more consistent, with pre-assembled recone kits and a no-glue process on 10–18" models to reduce downtime and keep the system playing.
- Pre-assembled cone, coil, and spider recone assemblies.
- No-glue recone process for 10–18" SoloX L7X subs.
- Surround compression system and bolt-on spider landing with alignment shims.
