Description
49L7X121 – 12" SoloX® L7X™ Ferrite Competition Subwoofer (1Ω DVC, 1000–2000W RMS)
The KICKER SoloX L7X is the brand's most advanced bass platform, built for extreme power handling and serviceability in real competition and demo vehicles. The 12-inch 49L7X121 delivers that same high-excursion, high-output performance in a more compact footprint, ideal for multi-sub walls or street systems where space matters but output is non-negotiable.
Overview
SoloX Motor Technology in a Compact 12"
The 49L7X121 uses the same SoloX® L7X™ motor architecture found in the larger sizes: a massive, triple-stacked ferrite magnet wrapped around a hyper-extended pole piece. This creates a powerful, highly linear magnetic field to keep the 3-inch voice coil under control at long excursion.
Rated for 1000–2000 watts RMS and built around a 1Ω dual voice coil, this 12" SoloX is designed for serious power and vented enclosures tuned in the 20–100 Hz band, giving you deep, authoritative bass in a smaller box than its 15" and 18" counterparts.
- Triple-stacked ferrite magnet with 8-11/16" (22 cm) diameter and 406 oz (11.5 kg) total magnet weight.
- Hyper-extended pole piece for improved linearity and heat dissipation at high excursion.
- Engineered for ultra-deep, high-output bass in compact high-power systems.
Construction
Competition-Grade Build, Street-Friendly Size
The SoloX L7X 12" combines a cast-aluminum basket, double-pressed pulp cone, and a heavy-duty, UV-resistant Santoprene® surround. KICKER's square cone geometry with ribbed corners increases cone area, controls edge stress, and turns stroke into real-world displacement and output.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for strength and stiffness under heavy load.
- Heavy-duty UV-resistant Santoprene® surround with square cone and ribbed corners.
- Cast-aluminum basket and custom rubber magnet boot for rigidity and protection.
What Makes SoloX® L7X™ Different
Key Design Highlights
Motor & Suspension
3" Voice Coil & Dual-Spider Suspension
The 49L7X121 uses a 3-inch (75 mm) voice coil with a 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width on an aluminum former, supported by a dual-spider suspension. This keeps the coil aligned and controlled across the subwoofer's long excursion range, while the cone and surround handle the mechanical load.
- 3" (75 mm) voice coil with 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width.
- Dual-spider suspension for high-excursion stability.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for stiffness and durability.
- Heavy-duty Santoprene® surround with square cone and ribbed corners.
Cooling & Reliability
Forced-Air Cooling™ for Competition Duty
The SoloX L7X motor structure is designed with airflow paths that move air through and around the voice coil, carrying heat away from critical components to help maintain performance under repeated high-power use in SPL and demo environments.
- Motor and pole geometry optimized for both output and heat reduction.
- Airflow through basket and motor structure to aid cooling.
- Engineered for competition-level power over extended sessions.
Wiring & Connectivity
1Ω Dual Voice Coils for Flexible System Design
The 49L7X121 features a 1Ω dual voice coil (DVC) configuration, giving you multiple wiring options to match modern monoblock amplifiers and multi-sub setups. The SoloX terminal system keeps large-gauge connections straightforward in tight enclosures.
- 1Ω DVC design for versatile wiring with high-output amplifiers.
- Single 8 AWG spring-loaded terminal for primary connection.
- Dual 8 AWG terminal block for fast series / parallel wiring.
Field-Replaceable Recone
Designed to Be Rebuilt Quickly
When you push a sub this hard, recones are part of the game. The SoloX L7X platform is built for fast, consistent recones using a pre-assembled recone kit and a no-glue process on 10–18" models, so you can get back to playing sooner.
- Pre-assembled cone, coil, and spider recone assemblies.
- No-glue recone process for 10–18" SoloX L7X subs.
- Surround compression system and bolt-on spider landing with alignment shims.
