Description
49L7X122 – 12" SoloX® L7X™ Ferrite Competition Subwoofer (2Ω DVC, 1000–2000W RMS)
The KICKER SoloX L7X is the company's most advanced bass platform, built with extreme power handling and a field-serviceable design for serious SPL and demo vehicles. The 12-inch 49L7X122 brings that flagship technology to a dual 2Ω configuration, giving system designers more flexibility when matching amplifiers and building multi-sub arrays.
Overview
High-Output 12" with Dual 2Ω Coils
The 49L7X122 shares the same SoloX® L7X™ motor design: a triple-stacked ferrite magnet surrounding a hyper-extended pole piece. This architecture generates a strong, linear magnetic field to keep the 3-inch voice coil under control at large excursion, translating amplifier power into serious low-end output.
With 1000–2000 watts RMS of recommended power and a 2Ω dual voice coil configuration, the 12" L7X122 gives you more wiring options for pairing with modern monoblock amplifiers and building multi-sub systems without sacrificing performance in the 20–100 Hz range.
- Triple-stacked ferrite magnet with 8-11/16" (22 cm) diameter and 406 oz (11.5 kg) total magnet weight.
- Hyper-extended pole piece to improve linearity and heat management at high excursion.
- Engineered for extreme low-end output in compact, high-power enclosures.
Construction
Competition-Grade Materials & Geometry
The SoloX L7X 12" uses a cast-aluminum basket, double-pressed pulp cone, and a heavy-duty, UV-resistant Santoprene® surround. KICKER's square cone profile with ribbed corners increases effective cone area and helps manage cone-edge stress, channeling excursion into SPL and responsiveness.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for stiffness and strength under extreme loads.
- Heavy-duty Santoprene® surround with square cone and ribbed corners.
- Cast-aluminum basket and custom rubber magnet boot for durability and protection.
What Makes SoloX® L7X™ Different
Key Design Highlights
Motor & Suspension
3" Voice Coil & Dual-Spider Stability
The 49L7X122 uses a 3-inch (75 mm) voice coil with a 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width and a dual-spider suspension system. This design keeps the coil centered and stable across large excursions, while the cone and surround handle the mechanical demands of high SPL playback.
- 3" (75 mm) voice coil with 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width.
- Dual-spider suspension for high-excursion control.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for stiffness and durability.
- Heavy-duty Santoprene® surround with square geometry and ribbed corners.
Cooling & Reliability
Forced-Air Cooling™ for Competition Use
The SoloX L7X motor and basket structures are designed to promote airflow through and around the voice coil, aiding heat dissipation. This helps preserve performance and reliability under repeated high-power sessions in SPL and demo vehicles.
- Motor and pole geometry optimized for airflow and heat reduction.
- Air moves through the motor structure to help cool critical components.
- Designed for extended high-power use in real competition environments.
Wiring & Connectivity
2Ω Dual Voice Coils for System Flexibility
The 49L7X122 features a 2Ω dual voice coil (DVC) configuration, providing multiple wiring options for matching modern monoblock amps or building multi-sub arrays. The SoloX terminal system is built to handle large-gauge wiring in tight spaces.
- 2Ω DVC design for flexible wiring with a wide range of amplifier combinations.
- Single 8 AWG spring-loaded terminal for primary connection.
- Dual 8 AWG terminal block for fast series / parallel wiring in complex systems.
Field-Replaceable Recone
Built to Be Rebuilt, Quickly
In high-output systems, recones are part of ownership. The SoloX L7X platform makes that process faster and more consistent with a pre-assembled recone kit and a no-glue process on 10–18" models, reducing downtime between rounds or shows.
- Pre-assembled cone, coil, and spider recone assemblies.
- No-glue recone process for 10–18" SoloX L7X subs.
- Surround compression system and bolt-on spider landing with alignment shims.
