Description
49L7X182 – 18" SoloX® L7X™ Ferrite Competition Subwoofer (2Ω, 1000–2000W RMS)
The legend returns. The 18-inch SoloX® L7X™ 49L7X182 is KICKER's flagship competition subwoofer, built around an overbuilt ferrite motor, massive excursion capability, and a field-replaceable recone system so you can push harder, fix faster, and get back in the lanes. It is engineered for ultra-deep, high-output bass and serious SPL builds.
Overview
Extreme Motor Design for Monster Performance
At the heart of the SoloX® L7X™ is a motor like no other. A massive, triple-stacked ferrite magnet surrounds a hyper-extended pole piece, producing an enormous, highly linear magnetic field that keeps the 3-inch voice coil under control even at extreme excursion. The result is ultra-deep bass at very high volume, with the thermal capacity and mechanical stability required for modern competition systems.
With a recommended 1000–2000 watts RMS and a 2Ω configuration, the 49L7X182 is designed to pair with serious power amplifiers and large vented enclosures, turning electrical headroom into usable SPL.
- Triple-stacked ferrite magnet with 8-11/16" (22 cm) diameter and 406 oz (11.5 kg) total magnet weight.
- Hyper-extended pole piece for improved linearity and heat dissipation at high excursion.
- Engineered for ultra-deep, high-output bass in high-power competition systems.
Construction
Built to Survive Real Competition Use
From the cast-aluminum basket to the double-pressed pulp cone and heavy-duty Santoprene® surround, every part of the L7X is built to handle extreme excursion and mechanical stress. The subwoofer is designed not just for peak numbers, but for repeatable performance over multiple burps and demos.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for strength and rigidity under high pressure.
- Heavy-duty UV-resistant Santoprene® surround with KICKER's square cone and ribbed corners.
- Cast-aluminum basket and custom rubber magnet boot for strength and protection.
What Makes SoloX® L7X™ Different
Key Design Highlights
Motor & Suspension
Built Around a 3" Voice Coil & Dual-Spider System
The 49L7X182 uses a 3-inch (75 mm) voice coil on an aluminum former, supported by a dual-spider suspension. This combination maintains precise coil alignment across the subwoofer's long excursion range, while the heavy-duty cone and surround keep the moving assembly under control.
- 3" (75 mm) voice coil with 2.5" (62.5 mm) winding width for high thermal capacity.
- Dual-spider suspension system for improved stability at high excursion.
- Double-pressed pulp cone for stiffness and durability.
- Heavy-duty Santoprene® surround with square cone and ribbed corners for maximum air movement.
Cooling & Reliability
Forced-Air Cooling™ for Longer, Harder Play
High-power SPL applications generate extreme heat. KICKER's Forced-Air Cooling™ system moves air through the motor and around the voice coil, helping to carry heat away from critical components and extending reliability under repeated heavy use.
- Motor and pole piece geometry optimized for both output and thermal management.
- Cooling airflow paths designed into the basket and motor structure.
- Engineered for competition-level power over extended sessions.
Wiring & Connectivity
Built for Big Power & Flexible Wiring
Wiring big amplifiers to a competition sub shouldn't be a fight. The SoloX terminal system makes it simple to run large-gauge cable and configure series or parallel connections quickly in the field.
- Single 8 AWG spring-loaded terminal for primary connection.
- Dual 8 AWG terminal block above the main terminals for series/parallel wiring.
- 2Ω rated impedance to pair with high-output monoblock amplifiers.
Field-Replaceable Recone
Serviceability Designed In
Competition subwoofers get pushed to the limit. The SoloX L7X platform is designed to be brought back to life quickly with a field-replaceable recone kit. Using a surround compression system, bolt-on spider landing, and alignment shims, you don't need to break out glue to rebuild 10–18" models.
- Pre-assembled cone, voice coil, and spider recone kit.
- No gluing required for 10–18" L7X recone kits.
- Designed to minimize downtime between rounds or demo sessions.
