K40 Laser Defuser - Complete laser jammer defense against police laser speeding tickets
K40 introduced the world’s first laser jammer countermeasure to police laser guns in 1994, Since then, K40 Electronics has evolved the high-performance Laser Defuser line with industry-leading innovations, capable of combating police laser guns including variable pulse rate guns.
Radar System Compatibility – All K40 Laser Defusers integrate with any K40 remote radar system, thereby utilizing a single warning display (instrument-mounted LED(s) for both police radar and police laser alerts.
How does police laser (LIDAR) work?
If a police laser (LIDAR) gun is used to target your vehicle with pulsed bursts of infrared light traveling at 186,000 miles per second, it takes just 0.3 seconds to get a speed lock on your vehicle. A police laser gun beam operates like a flashlight beam – the closer it gets to the target, the smaller it becomes. At the typical targeting distance of 1000 feet, the police laser beam hitting your vehicle is 30 inches in diameter. At 500 feet, the police laser beam is reduced to only 15 inches in diameter!
How does the K40 laser Defuser work?
The K40 Laser Defuser combats the pinpoint accurate firepower of police laser guns with advanced countermeasure technology. Our high-performance and reliable laser jammers receive the police laser gun’s infrared light beam, analyze it, and then send back a jamming signal. This active defense happens in milliseconds to give you time to safely reduce speed to avoid a speeding ticket.
Laser jammers can only jam a police laser gun signal they detect. How many laser Defusers you need will depend on several factors to be determined by you and your installing K40 Dealer, like:
- The available mounting locations on your vehicle – do you drive with a front license plate, do you have a chrome grill, how far apart are your headlights?
- Your driving habits – are you an accidental speeder or a real driving enthusiast?
- Where you drive – do you drive primarily in an urban environment, the country, or are you a high mileage interstate traveler?
- The size of your vehicle – do you drive a compact sport vehicle or a large pick-up truck or SUV?
Depending on the answers to these questions and more, you may need two to five Laser Defusers installed on your vehicle for ticket-free guaranteed combat readiness.

In Depth Information
Note: It is recommended that the RL200di should be installed by a professional or advanced DIYer. This is not a product for a greenhorn.
The K40 RL200di is a custom-installed, GPS-enabled radar detection system. It is not a portable, windshield- or dash-mounted device. The RL200di includes a large front radar receiver, a GPS module, and a host module that ties them all together. The radar system features a single LED and remote speaker to provide visual and audible alerts, and comes with a wireless remote control.
Radar Detection: The RL200di features a large front radar receiver that is installed horizontally under the hood. It can detect the following radar bands and frequencies:
• X-band: 10.500-10.550 GHz
• K-band: 24.050-25.250 GHz
• Ka-band: 33.400-36.000 GHz
• Note: Laser detection is not included, however, the RL200di will accommodate up to four Laser Diffuser G5s, available from the manufacturer.
Filter Settings: The K40 RL200di offers three Sensitivity Modes:
• Highway: This default setting detects all types of North American approved police radar (X, K, Ka) at full sensitivity. This is recommended for highway travel, or for areas in which you are unfamiliar with the types of radar used.
• City: The City mode reduces the sensitivity of X-band radar, while K and Ka bands remain at full sensitivity. This can be used in urban areas where there are minimal non-police radar signals.
• Filter: In this mode, X-band detection is eliminated and K and Ka band are reduced by 50%. This is best for congested traffic areas where there is a high concentration of non-police radar signals.
• Visual and Audible Alerts: The RL200di comes with a single LED that can be mounted near your vehicle's instrument cluster to provide a visual alert when radar is detected. A 2" speaker is provided for audible alerts, navigation through the menu, and setting up the system features.
Mark to Alert
You can mark locations such as speed traps, school zones, and red light cameras, so you'll receive an alert whenever you enter that geographical area. Each time you mark a location, you add to a growing database of important locations, which are stored in the detector's memory.
Mark to Mute
Like Mark to Alert above, you can mark specific locations where you receive non-police radar alerts. This eliminates annoying false alerts from automatic doors and security systems.
Quiet Ride
The Quiet Ride feature will silent all audible alerts until you exceed a selected minimum speed. Typically this feature is used on long road trips, and where you only want to be alerted to radar if you exceed a set speed limit.
Speed Monitor
The Speed Monitor feature will provide audible and visual alerts (from the speaker and LED) whenever you exceed a pre-selected speed. Speed Monitor overrides the Quiet Ride feature.

Remote Control
The RL200di comes with a wireless remote control that lets you turn on/off many of the system's features. In addition to power, volume up/down, and mute, the remote includes buttons for Dim, Menu, Mark to Mute (MM), Mark to Alert (MA), Quiet Ride, and City/Highway modes. The remote comes with a visor clip and self-adhesive hook-and-loop fasteners so you can keep it hidden away when not in use.
K40's Ticket-Free Guarantee
K40 Electronics offers a Ticket-Free Guarantee for the first year of product ownership. During the first year, the company will pay in full for all radar speeding tickets incurred while the detector is operating and used properly. The guarantee is not valid for tickets written in school or construction zones, or if incurred with a DUI or DWI violation.

Features
Each Laser Defuser Optix transponder contains a powerful Nanostack™ technology pulsed laser diode for high optical laser jamming output power and outstanding reliability.
- Ultra-Compact Footprint for Discreet Placement
The laser Defuser Optix has a compact footprint which allows for a custom and discreet installation into grilles and other tight spaces. - Updatable to Ensure Optimum Performance
The interface controller features a USB port so its system software can be updated as new police LIDAR technology emerges. - Maximum Coverage Protection
The in-vehicle sync interface can fire up to five transponders simultaneously for superior detection and maximum laser jamming output to combat the latest VPR LIDAR guns.
Three User-Selectable Transmit Modes
- Constant Transmit: For as long as it’s receiving a police laser gun signal, the Laser Defuser Optix transponder will continuously transmit back to the gun.
- Pulse Transmit: Upon receiving a police laser gun signal, the Laser Defuser Optix transponder will transmit back to the gun for up to five seconds. The system will then shut off for 30 seconds. This allows for the reduction of speed while also eliminating the suspicion of “jamming” where the use of laser jammers is prohibited.
- Receive Only: For notification only. No signal will be transmitted.
