A number of problems attributed to bad grounding (physical & electrical) : intermittent or low supply voltage to noise. Was going to do a hardware store fix, but aside from being an attractive add to my install, functional and well made - all I've come to expect from JL Audio. Well worth the extra spend and not a place to skimp. AND: great priced from Creative!
After drilling the correct size hole and insert the lug into the hole I crawl under the truck to tighten it up I was using a 1/4" drive deep socket got the nut to thread on and had just starting to snug it up when I felt no resistance anymore thinking the stud had snapped somehow I started to unthread it long story short the nut had completely stripped all the threads out of it idk how this happened mind you I was using a 1/4" drive with a deep scoket by hand so I had no leverage to do that all I could come up with is just cheap chrome plated parts used all in all it was definitely a waste of money. So I just went to Ace and in the bolts bins bought a proper all steel grounding lug for like 5 or 6 bucks and with all steel nuts and washers
Someone had their "thinking cap" on when they came up with this ground stud idea. It solved my problem of a bad ground with a stereo system. I ended up putting two of them on my car: one for the battery ground, and one for the stereo amplifier ground.
