Overview
The Metra 70-1398 connects an aftermarket radio to the original connectors in the listed Toyota vehicles. The adapter keeps the factory connector wiring intact and provides color-coded leads to connect or solder to the new receiver harness. Its specified electrical connection supplies radio power and four-speaker wiring, and the harness carries a one-year warranty.
Wire the receiver and check the supporting parts
Connect or solder the color-coded wires to the new radio's harness. The installation may also require a dash kit and antenna adapter. A separate interface may be needed for retained factory functions depending on the vehicle; Metra support is available seven days a week.

Equipment and installation qualifications
- The listed Toyota applications require non-amplified factory audio. The 1983–1986 Tercel application is for Deluxe models.
- Corolla 1982–1983 sedan/wagon applications use the upper-dash radio location; the 1983 coupe/liftback application uses the console-mounted radio. For 1984–1986, the supported body/trim groups are coupe/liftback GTS or SR5, and sedan/wagon.
- For Celica 1982–1985, the trim group is Celica ST, GT, Supra and GT-S.
