Overview
The Metra 70-1736 provides the radio wiring connection in supported Hyundai Excel, Hyundai Sonata and Mitsubishi Precis vehicles. The adapter fits the original radio connector, keeping its factory leads intact. Color-coded wires on the other side connect or solder to an aftermarket receiver for radio power and the specified four-speaker connection.
Keep the original connection available
The vehicle-side adapter plugs into the supported radio connector, preserving the factory connector wiring during receiver replacement.
Match Excel, Sonata and Precis separately
The three model ranges differ. Use 1986–1989 for Excel, 1989–1994 for Sonata and 1987–1994 for Precis when checking the application.
Finish the receiver-side wiring
Connect or solder the color-coded leads to the aftermarket radio harness. Check whether a dash kit, antenna adapter or factory-function interface is also required for the chosen receiver and vehicle. The adapter addresses wiring at the original radio connector.
