Description
Connect the new receiver and retain the specified signal paths
Metra 70-1777 Radio Wiring Harness for 2000–2004 Ford Focus and 2000–2002 Mercury Cougar
Vehicle-specific wiring with Axxess steering-wheel-control preparation and VSS retention.
The 2000–2004 Ford Focus application excludes Blaupunkt factory radios and supports amplified or non-amplified factory audio.
The 2000–2002 Mercury Cougar application requires non-amplified factory audio without the dual-media/six-disc radio.
Overview
The Metra 70-1777 connects an aftermarket radio in the 2000–2004 Ford Focus and 2000–2002 Mercury Cougar applications. It is pre-wired for an Axxess steering-wheel-control interface, sold separately, and retains VSS plus rear-seat-entertainment audio in select vehicles. The original radio connectors remain intact, while color-coded leads connect or solder to the receiver for radio power and four-speaker wiring.
Finish the receiver wiring and check the remaining parts
Connect or solder the color-coded leads to the new radio harness. The vehicle-side adapters plug into the original connectors without cutting their wiring. A dash kit, antenna adapter or additional interface may also be required for the chosen receiver and the factory functions being retained.
