Description
Focal Scala Utopia Evo Floorstanding Loudspeaker
The Scala Utopia Evo is a three-way bass-reflex floorstanding loudspeaker in Focal’s Utopia range, designed to deliver highly detailed and dynamic sound reproduction. This latest evolution introduces a new terminal board that allows bi-amplification, giving listeners greater control over system configuration and sonic performance.
The loudspeaker integrates several of Focal’s flagship technologies, including a pure Beryllium IAL2 inverted dome tweeter and a midrange driver equipped with TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) suspension and a Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) motor. These technologies are designed to reduce distortion and improve midrange precision while maintaining the musical presentation associated with the Scala platform.
Key Technologies
- IAL2™ pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter
- TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) suspension for the midrange driver
- NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) motor in the midrange driver
- Focus Time™ driver alignment
- W sandwich cone technology with laser-cut precision
- Power Flower™ motor structure
- Gamma Structure™ cabinet construction
- OPC+™ crossover optimization
Acoustic Design
Scala Utopia Evo uses a three-way bass-reflex configuration featuring an 11" (27 cm) W-cone woofer, a 6.5" (16.5 cm) W-cone midrange driver with NIC motor and TMD suspension, and a 27 mm IAL2 pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter. The W sandwich membrane construction is laser-cut for increased precision and consistency.
With a sensitivity of 92 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the loudspeaker is compatible with a wide range of amplifiers. The redesigned terminal board enables bi-amplification and supports adjustable bass, midrange, and treble levels for further system tuning.
